Citra Joseph, Esq.

Citra Joseph, Esq. is a high-performing legal professional with extensive experience in complex litigation and targeted research. She has practical experience in motion practice, plea negotiations, and trials. Citra has strong interpersonal skills and can foster and maintain meaningful relationships with victims, witnesses, colleagues, and support staff. She is an expert in managing high caseloads, coordinating witnesses, and investigating and evaluating cases. Citra is also skilled in trial strategy, court case presentation, legal research, legal writing, team building, and appellate briefs drafting.

Citra currently serves as the Managing Attorney for Louis Law Group. Prior to this, she worked at the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office in Miami, FL since August 2014. During her time there, Citra participated in over 100 bench trials and 20 jury trials to verdict, including one homicide. She developed collaborative relationships with homicide and narcotic officers during the investigation of defendants accused of violent and drug trafficking crimes. She defended over one hundred depositions of state witnesses and defense witnesses, conducted interviews for potential candidates for Assistant State Attorney positions, and supervised over forty attorneys. Citra also participated in disciplinary conferences and decisions.

In addition to her role as Assistant State Attorney, Citra held several other positions, including Chief of Litigation, County Court, where she trained newly hired attorneys and developed trial strategies while overseeing day-to-day operations of the unit. She also worked in the Insurance Fraud Unit, where she handled workman’s comp. fraud, arson, and staged accidents. Citra was a certified FIFEC participant and FACAP trainee. As the Assistant Chief of Crimes, County Court, Citra managed day-to-day unit operations, served as the Human Trafficking Liaison, and oversaw Florida Fish and Wildlife cases, including handling boating fatalities. She also served as the County Training Attorney and a Certified Legal Intern in the Domestic Violence Unit.

Before becoming an attorney, Citra was a teacher at Miami Dade County Schools from August 2007 to June 2012. During her time there, she was named Teacher of the Year in 2011-2012 and Rookie Teacher of the Year in 2008-2009.

Citra received her Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Centre in May 2014. She received several honors, including the Book Award for Legal Skills and Values I, Fall 2010; Trial Advocacy, Spr. 2013; and Civil Pretrial Practice, Fall 2013. Citra was also on the Dean’s List for Fall ‘10, Spr. ‘11, Spr. ‘12, Fall ‘12, Spr. ‘13, and Fall ‘14. She was involved in several activities, including the Academic Disciplinary Board (2013-14), Nova Law Review (Diversity Editor ‘13-‘14; Assistant Technical Editor ‘12-‘13), Nova Trial Association (Advocate ‘13-‘14), and the Black Law Student Association (President 2013-2014).
