Bio.

Benaejah Simmonds is an accomplished attorney with a diverse range of experiences in the legal field. Currently serving as an Associate at Louis Law Group in Miami, FL, Benaejah has been instrumental in defending multiple carriers in first-party and third-party insurance claims. Her responsibilities include drafting motions and discovery, attending hearings, taking and defending depositions, as well as participating in mediation. In addition, she provides valuable assistance to carriers in complex pre-suit coverage matters, including conducting examinations under oath and preparing coverage opinions. Benaejah also specializes in defending premises liability cases involving property owners, lessees, condominium and apartment managers, and valet companies.

Prior to her role at Louis Law Group, Benaejah served as a Contract Attorney at FTI Consulting, Inc. in Miami, FL, where she performed comprehensive analytical review, quality control, and deposition preparation for litigation counsel on various complex civil and anti-trust matters. Her experience ranged from multi-billion-dollar company mergers and acquisitions to breach of contract claims. Benaejah demonstrated familiarity with HIPAA and the HSR Act and their applications during her tenure at FTI Consulting.

Her legal journey also includes serving as an Intern Law Clerk to the Honorable Ursula Ungaro at the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida. In this role, Benaejah conducted research and drafted letters, orders, and bench memoranda on various civil and criminal matters. Her responsibilities covered FDUPTA and FLSA claims, patent infringement claims, and claims affected by Amendment 782 of U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and its retroactive application.

Benaejah's commitment to the legal profession extends to her experience as a Contract Attorney at Hogan Lovells US LLP in Miami, FL, where she assisted litigation counsel in a multi-million-dollar international arbitration proceeding. Her work, characterized by extensive search and analysis of needed evidence for the claim memorial, earned recognition within the firm, leading to her involvement in other special projects.

Education-wise, Benaejah holds a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, where she received the Certificate of Merit in Legal Research and Writing. She was also a Quarterfinalist and received the Best Brief Award in the Frederick Douglass National Moot Court Competition. Additionally, she was a Semi-Finalist in the First-Year Moot Court Competition and earned a place on the Dean’s List. Benaejah was actively involved in various activities during her time at law school, serving as Associate Editor for the Thomas M. Cooley Journal of Practical and Clinical Law and participating in the Moot Court Board, Moot Court Competition Committee, and the Black Law Student Association.

Before law school, Benaejah earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with Honorable Distinction from Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL.

She is a member of the Florida Bar, having been admitted in 2012, and is an active participant in professional organizations such as the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division. In her volunteer capacity, Benaejah serves as the Director of the Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Department at Tabernacle Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
